Telco Awards Day: Top Account Managers Beat Recession

There was nothing “ceremonial” about Telco’s recent Awards Day ceremony.
Instead, it was a raucous, roaring crew that gathered on the sales floor to find out who the top sellers
in the company were. (Rumours had been circulating for days that the top 3 account managers
had accumulated more than $10.7 million in sales between them!)
The entire sales force turned out to watch the awards, joined by management and support
staff. Director Frank Cerney emceed the event and began by recognizing the tremendous effort
Telco staff has put in to making the past 12 months a success.
After awarding the popular “Employee of the Year” prize – for a second year in a row – to Telco Management’s
super-organized, always-cheerful receptionist, Cerney got
down to the sales-side of the ceremony — the roll call of the company’s top 3 most
productive account managers.
The names of the trio came as no surprise to those familiar with the “work hard to play
hard” mindset embodied by all 3:
1. Syed Ali, with $4,902,357 in sales,
2. Brandon Montana, with $3,443,513, and
3. Jay Gill, with $2,401,205.
Celebrations continued with the smorgasbord of food Telco events are famous for, and the
conviction that the next 12 months will be the best yet for Telco employees.

Employee Entertainment Area Grows

At Telco, we’re serious about our “work hard to play hard” mindset.
We recently added a Wii to our employee entertainment area, giving staff members a whole new way
to get their game on. Now staff can choose between Wii, pool, or foosball when break time comes, or just
kick back and watch one of the large plasma TVs.

Top Agent Finally Gets Out of the Office

Brandon Montana, one of Telco’s highly successful top agents, is finally taking the
all-inclusive trip to Mexico he won as a sales incentive. (For more about Telco’s incentives,
please see our
Compensation page.)
His sales ability landed him the trip some time ago, but that’s also what keeps him coming back
into the call center day after day. Still, he’s glad to be getting out of the office at last to
catch some sun and enjoy some downtime.
However, coworkers close to Brandon don’t expect his vacation time to be too relaxed. That
just wouldn’t be like him. “If I’m going to work hard, I may as well play hard
too,” he was heard to say as he left the office.

Not the Usual Telco Bash

Telco has hosted some great events for staff members, including picnics, barbecues, and boat cruises.
Our most recent company summer celebrations have included: a night at the River Rock Casino –
complete with poker games, slot machines, and a comedy show; and a fabulous summer Boat Cruise
around Vancouver's waterways – complete with DJ, dancing, good food and good friends.
As wonderful as these are, none can top our yearly Christmas extravaganza – held at the
fabulous Pan Pacific Hotel's Crystal Pavillion – where our staff gets dressed to the nines
and enjoys the fruits of their labour with champagne toasts and prizes galore.
No one knows yet what’s on tap for the next staff party, but we’re all sure
it’ll be exceptional.

Telco Account Managers Receive New, Improved Vocal Training

Vocal training has long been a part of Telco’s ongoing professional development program for
its account managers.
Now, however, account managers stand to benefit even more from it. Vocal coach Andrew McIlroy has
reworked his highly effective “vocal masks” class to make it more interactive and fun.
Vocal masks allow account managers to use their most important sales tool – their voice – in the
most effective way, playing a part through the use of their voice alone, bringing any sales script to
life. Through the use of vocal masks, account managers learn to project confidence, inspire trust, and
establish rapport – the very qualities that lead to closing more sales!
Andrew McIlroy has worked as a teacher, actor, director and broadcaster for 28 years. He is also a
sought-after acting coach and has worked with lead actors in the films “Indian” and
“Edison” and coaches
for the television shows “Blade” and “Little Mosque on the Prairie”.
